The first thing to realise is that violent crime is rare and even more unlikely, from a stranger. The dangers posed for men and women are different: men will be more at risk from a group of other men, when they are on their own, whereas women are more at risk from a man: on his own, when they are are on their own.
Our experience and research has shown that it needs three things for a violent or agressive incident to happen - a perpetrator, a victim and an opportunity. If you take away the opportunity, the incident can't happen.
